Wanting more without needing more!”
These are powerful words. They’re posted on the wall in front of me in my office. When I think about the phrase “I’m totally satisfied” I’m reminded of the many things I’m grateful for in my life; a husband I love, grown children I enjoy watching as they explore the world and journey on their path of life, my dogs and cat, treasured friends, dancing, designing and making jewelry to name a few.
That’s quite a list and it reminds me I don’t really need any more. Do I want more? Sure, I want more! When I begin to really think about what I want more of, well, that’s when it gets deep. Deep into thought about what’s important in my life. The answer is basically the same. I want more of what I value in life because I know when my life is full with what I value I’m happier and I’m fulfilled. So, what does that mean in terms of more? It’s a good question here at the beginning of the year and the beginning of a new decade. I’m asking myself, “What will I make room for more of in my life?” Will it be more time for volunteer work? More time to make jewelry? Or will it be a commitment to spend more time with family and friends? I’ve got some ideas about the specifics; the basic is always the same, it will be more of that which reflects my values and brings me fulfillment.
I’m working on my list. It will be in my journal by the end of this first month of the year and this new decade. Will you do the same? Will you spend some time in thought about what you want more of in your life? Think about your values, what brings you happiness? What makes your life fulfilled?
Will you choose more fulfillment for your life this year? This decade?
